CASABLANCA BEATS / HAUT ET FORT – Film Screening
Teacher Anas, a former rapper, has recently taken a job at an arts centre in the troubled Casablanca neighbourhood of Sidi Moumen.
Anas works with a close-knit group of students, encouraging them to open their minds and free themselves from the weight of tradition and patriarchy rife in society.
When given free rein to discuss topics of religion, politics and sexuality, a young generation takes centre stage in Nabil Ayouch’s brash and bold Casablanca Beats.
An exhilarating portrait of aspiring hip-hop artists which played in competition at Cannes.
Date: Saturday 10 September
Time: 1pm – 2.45pm
Certificate: 12A
Cost: Free
Venue: Backstage Theatre, Mountview
Admission for the film screening is on a first come first served basis, no booking required
