Peckham Youth Showcase 2024: Performances + Short Film Screening

Dive into a world where the vibrant voices and boundless energy of young people take centre stage!  

Join us for a theatrical showcase of creativity and storytelling, celebrating youth agency and imagination in an exciting collaboration between young people from Harris Academy Peckham and Mountview’s Theatre for Community and Education Masters’ students.  

 

How do you know what you know? How does social media shape the way we view ourselves? 

 

The performances capture young people’s ideas and experiences on issues that relate to them, exploring themes such as social media, self-awareness and community, through a co-created approach. These performances are the culmination of a six-week programme of weekly after-school theatre workshops in Peckham. 

 

These live performances will be followed by a film screening of My Power = Tomorrow (MP=T) made in collaboration with Harris Academy Peckham and Kindred youth arts initiative, founded by MA Theatre for Community and Education alumni.  

 

MP=T, a documentary-style short film about the lives and impressions of a group of South London teens shot in and around Peckham. Using a combination of poetry, dance, music and interviews, the young people offer perspectives on power and the impact of social justice issues in an ever changing world. Poignant reflections on the daily joys and struggles of these young people’s lives are showcased in this powerful and moving collection of narratives.
