Closely based on the lauded 2007 film of the same name by John Carney, this is a musical story of creativity and confidence, connections and responsibility; the need to create and share our talents and passions is sometimes undeniable.

Steven Grihault

Director

Steve is Mountview’s Joint Head of Acting.

He originally trained as an actor, working with companies including The Young Vic, English Shakespeare Company and Trestle Theatre Co.

As a director he worked at The Royal Court, English Shakespeare Co, Jacksons Lane.

Directing credits at Mountview include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Our Country’s Good, Swallows and Amazons, Coram Boy, Nell Gwyn, Once and The Caucasian Chalk Circle.

James Cleeve

Musical Director

As Musical Director: Yank! The Musical (Charing Cross Theatre), Alice in Sunderland (National Theatre Workshop), Ushers (Arts Theatre), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Arts Theatre), The Sound of Music (national tour, Assistant Musical Director).

James has also worked on projects with The Southbank Centre, Shakespeare’s Globe and The Young Vic, and regularly MDs on the London cabaret circuit.

As Composer: Emilia (licensed by Nick Hern books), Pinocchio (Orange Tree Theatre) and projects for ENO Baylis.

Choreographer

Shelby trained at London Studio Centre and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School.

Anna Toumanova

Set and Costume Designer

Anna Toumanova trained as a theatre designer at the Moscow Arts Theatre School and Wimbledon School of Art.

She has worked extensively on the London fringe, in drama schools and in regional theatres.

Her productions include Becket, or the Honour of God by Jean Anouilh and Othello (Southwark Playhouse), The Alchemist by Ben Jonson at the Cambridge Arts Theatre, Robbers by Lyle Kessler (Tristan Bates Theatre), and a wide variety of productions at East 15, ALRA and the Oxford School of Drama.

Chris Murray

Sound Designer

Chris is a sound designer of musicals and plays.

His work includes: From Here to Eternity, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Love Letters, Ruff Tuff Cream Puff Estate Agency, The Great Murder Mystery, The Hired Man, and many more.

As an associate designer, he’s worked on international projects such as Kam Yama Kam and Miranda.

Previously Head of Sound at Theatre Royal Stratford East, Chris holds a degree in Sound, Light, and Live Event Technology from the University of Derby.
