A modern classic, this satirical play with music focuses on the First World War – a stripped back, raw but raucously playful tribute to the original development of the piece first created under Joan Littlewood’s direction in 1963.

Duration: 2 hours 25 minutes (including a 20-minute interval)

This play features haze, smoking, strobe lighting, images of war, violence and death, themes of misogyny/sexism, scenes of a sexual nature, special effects explosions, gunshot sound effects and offensive language.

Rhyannon Richardson

Set and Costume Designer

Rhyannon has been working in professional theatre for over 20 years, both as a set and costume designer and as a maker.

Much of her work has been with community groups, theatre in education and drama schools, but she has also designed for a wide range of both small and large scale productions and tours, including the Chester Mystery Plays.

She designs for events, festivals and theme parks, and works as a mural artist and illustrator.

She is also Design Facilitator here at Mountview.

Emily Nelson (she/her)

Urinetown - Costume Designer

Emily is a designer based across London and Cardiff.

A graduate from RWCMD, credits include Oh What a Lovely War (Mountview), Mr Kolpert (LAMDA), Crazy for You (WAVDA), and Tristan and Yseult (Warminster Athenaeum), as well as various film shorts, including a commission for UnBoxed’s Tour de Moon.

Recent associate work includes Project Dictator (Rhum & Clay’s UK and Norway tour), Murmurations (Tangled Feet), as well as assisting Edie Morris on National Theatre Wales’ Galwad.

Adam King

Lighting Designer

Adam is a Mountview alum.

Since graduating, he has gone on to be Assistant Lighting Designer on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Bend it Like Beckham in the West End.

Bruce Sharp

Sound Designer

Bruce has a MA in visual art from Camberwell College of Art, London.

His output crosses over several media including drawing, installation, film and sound.

He has composed sound scores for contemporary dance and sound design for drama and immersive work in a variety of locations from traditional theatre to site-specific locations in the UK and abroad. He also writes on theoretical aspects of performance studies.
