Scott Slocombe, BA Actor Musicianship 2024

The scholarship was very important in allowing me to focus on my training without constantly worrying about how I’m going to pay my fees. Without the funding I’ve received for each of my 3 years, I would almost certainly not have been able to afford to complete the course. The whole experience at Mountview has been fantastic, I was always interested in both

acting and music independently. I wasn’t even aware of actor-musicianship courses until starting the Foundation in Acting at Mountview. It seemed an attractive option to combine two of the things I most enjoy doing. My plans after graduation are to work as often as I can in as many interesting and challenging projects as possible. No stage is too small or too big.

Scholarship

s allow training, and entrance to training, to be largely based on talent and merit. That enables those who cannot afford to pay for their training due to their background and personal circumstances to have the chance to do so. In my opinion, scholarships are vital to providing fair opportunities and ensuring that the profession of acting is not limited to only those who can afford it. We need more working-class actors and opportunities for those with the talent and desire to pursue this career to be able to do so without incurring crippling debt or not being shut out in the first place due to affordability.
