I came to Mountview as a mature student after a career change in pursuit of my longstanding interest in acting. I chose Mountview because of the alumni and staff, the rigorous training, and the great facilities. I just felt it was the best fit for me. A highlight of my time here was our production of Blue Stockings, I thought it was such a wonderful play to be a part of, we had the writer come in as well and we met her. I also feel so privileged to have forged good relationships with my fellow students, which will last for a long time. Everybody who was a part of our year group enriched it, each person brought their own unique perspective. I’d love to be an actor on stage and on screen. I want to use the training I’ve acquired here and take it out into the industry. I want to be able to change some of the narratives that we see and help shift some perceptions out of that.
The Judi Dench Fund was critical in assisting me to complete my education at Mountview. Most financial support program are skewed towards younger people, and I feel that in conversations about representation and access to education, students in older age brackets can easily be overlooked. When donating to the JDF, it’s like a ripple effect; you haven’t just allowed someone to get an education, to get a degree. You’re allowing people to achieve their dreams and in doing so, contributing to an art form, which also enriches others’ lives.
