The Mountview Prize Talk 2021 - Dawn Walton
On Friday 18 June 2021, Dawn Walton gave the inaugural Mountview Prize talk in front of an audience of students and invited guests.
Walton’s talk, entitled Filling the Space, Taking Your Space, reflected on how she forged her career, finding and making space and included a provocation to the next generation of theatre makers to find their space in the industry.
The Mountview Prize is part of Mountview’s Black Lives Matter action plan which we launched in 2020 to support Black and other underrepresented communities. The talk forms part of our commitment to listen, learn and celebrate different lived experiences and is accompanied by a bursary to a talented young person from an historically excluded community who is in financial need to enable them to attend Mountview’s part-time Foundation in Acting course.
It is intended the Mountview Prize talk will become an annual event giving a platform to the voices of a range of trailblazers who inspire social change and whose lived experience is inspirational to others.
