Summer Season 2025 Announced
We are excited to announce Mountview’s Summer Season of productions, showcasing the talents of our BA (Hons) Performance – Acting, Actor Musicianship and Musical Theatre students, with the support of our Production Arts students.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
16 – 26 Apr | The Mack
“It must be believed to be seen…”
Charlie Bucket, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee and Augustus Gloop arrive with their family members, eager to explore a magical world of chocolate, candy and Everlasting Gobstoppers – but behind Wonka’s doors lies something more sinister than just sweet delights. As they venture deeper into the factory, they soon learn that nobody will leave quite the same as they arrived…
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a musical based on the classic Roald Dahl novel, with a book by David Greig, music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Shaiman, and Scott Wittman. Performed by the majority of our Musical Theatre students, this bold and eccentric reimagining of Dahl’s beloved story proves that nothing compares with a world of Pure Imagination.

Songs for a New World
22 – 25 Apr | The Backstage Theatre
“It’s about one moment…”
Written and composed by Jason Robert Brown, this eclectic, iconic and powerful song cycle is connected by one theme: “the moment of decision”. Through a series of stories, characters from across time face moments of decisions that will forever change their lives, as each tale weaves together topics of hope, love, and possibility.
Performed by our Musical Theatre students, this intimate production showcases Brown’s blend of pop, jazz, and gospel in an emotional journey about life’s pivotal moments.

The UN Inspector
9 – 17 May | The Mack
“I took a weedy little toerag as a man of importance!”
When a British businessman is accidentally identified as a UN inspector in an incredibly corrupt dictatorship, chaos erupts. As the impostor plays along and revels in newly found power, panic spreads through the presidential palace, with ministers desperately trying to cover up their illicit, greed-fuelled dealings.
This riotous, sharp and ridiculous farce by David Farr is an updated version of Nikolai Gogol’s renowned satire The Government Inspector, performed with biting wit and relentless energy by our Acting students.

Machinal
15 – 22 May | The Backstage Theatre
“I suppose I got to marry somebody – all girls do…”
Based on a sensational 1920s murder trial, Sophie Treadwell’s groundbreaking play Machinal follows a young American woman trapped in societal expectations. She follows the prescribed path – marriage, motherhood, and monotony while she is desperately searching for a sense of freedom from her suffocating existence.
Performed by our Actor Musicianship cohort, this production features an original score and a fresh approach to Treadwell’s powerful exploration of society and human dignity.
