Mountview CEOs presented with Special Recognition Olivier Awards
Mountview’s joint CEOs Stephen Jameson and Sarah Preece were honoured with Special Recognition Olivier Awards at the annual Olivier Nominees celebration today. The awards celebrate their achievements in relocating Mountview from Wood Green to Peckham, and for promoting accessibility and diversity.
Presented to Stephen and Sarah by Mountview alum, and Olivier Award winner himself, Giles Terera, the Awards recognise Mountview’s commitment to the arts and arts education in Peckham itself as well as its work in training future generations of students in performance and production arts.
Sarah used her acceptance speech to express how, by playing an active role in its local community, Mountview aims to be a new model of what a drama school should be. Stephen spoke of how Mountview’s strong partnership with Southwark Council has resulted in an unprecedented financing model that enabled the construction of the new building, allowing Mountview to reach out to the local community and develop aspiration and ambition among young people in the borough.
In accepting their awards, Sarah and Stephen acknowledged the industry leaders who have championed Mountview’s relocation, including Sir Cameron Mackintosh who made a gift of £1 million to Mountview, ensuring the completion of its new home.
