On Stage and Screen
Rachel Bagshaw revealed a sneak-peek of her inaugural season as Artistic Director at the Unicorn Theatre.
It was announced that Harmony Daniel‘s show Run Black Girl Run will be playing at the Peckham Fringe in May.
Pippa Juliet was cast as Lena Finelli/Aurora Gambaretto in The Finellis Musical at Wonderville.
It was confirmed that Alex Howarth‘s Cassie and the Lights will play at Southwark Playhouse: Borough, with fellow alum Louisa Harland providing voiceover in the show.
Charles Quittner‘s festival Scritches #3, featuring new plays made through international collaboration, ran at The Divine. It included Stretching Out, directed by Chyna-Rose Frederick, and Treshold, with Beatrice Su among the cast.
It was confirmed that Abigail Matthews will play Toto in the West End revival of The Wizard of Oz this summer.
Giles Terera was cast as Baxter in Power of Sail at Menier Chocolate Factory.
Meanwhile, Mountview’s Cleve September and Luke Bayer were cast in the tenth annoversary production of USHERS: The Front of House Musical at The Other Palace.
Hope This Helps played at The Pleasance, with Director Charles Quittner. Lighting Designer Billy Highfield and cast member Cade Brannan.
Brandon Bendell appeared as Jason in Silver Haze, released via BFI.
In Everglade Studio, co-directed by Nathaniel Brimmer-Beller and Phoebe Rowell John and featuring Aveev Isaacson, has been in rehearsal for its run at The Hope Theatre. The play, written by Brimmer-Beller, will be published by Bloomsbury to coincide with the run.
It was announced that Gavin Wilkinson will be joining the cast of Hello, Dolly! in the West End.
Natasha Guzel was confirmed as Deputy Stage Manager for the upcoming tour of The History Boys.
Eve Humphrey was cast as Dinah in Starlight Express, with fellow alum Pablo Gómez Jones joining the production as Ensemble.
Alum Charles Quittner recently directed a showcase of hotly emerging New York and Oxford-based composer, Jake Landau, at Crazy Coqs. The showcase also featured fellow Mountview graduates Luke Bayer and Beth Graham.
Amanda Minihan and Jasper Ryan-Cater were featured in The Gentlemen on Netflix.
A number of graduates were cast in Footloose at Pitlochry – Charlotte Grayson as Wendy. Signe Larsson as Urleen, Myles Miller as Travis and Elizabeth Rowe as Rusty.
Awards and Nominations
The nominees were announced for the 2024 Olivier Awards. They include Mountview’s Giles Terera (Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Clyde’s), Will Close (Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Dear England), Grace Hodgett Young (Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical, Sunset Boulevard), Amy Trigg (Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical, The Little Big Things) and Jack Wolfe (Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical, Next to Normal).
At the Critics’ Circle Theatre Awards 2024, Jack Wolfe picked up the award for most promising newcomer (the Jack Tinker Award) for Next to Normal.
