Latest statement on Black Lives Matter actions
On 12 June Mountview’s Joint CEOs Sarah Preece and Stephen Jameson sent the below statement to students and recent alumni.
Over the past two weeks we have been working hard to consult with and listen to voices from across our Black community in response to the issues raised by the murder of George Floyd.
We have met with representatives from our Black student body and alumni who shared their experiences and stated the need for change. We have also met with representatives of our Board to discuss how we might best take action as an organisation.
We are committed to addressing the inequalities that result from systemic and institutional racism and are creating a statement of intent that defines a series of commitments Mountview will enact to bring about change.
It is critical this is fit for purpose, so we are consulting with our Black students, staff, alumni and Trustees to finalise this and to establish clear milestones to ensure we can monitor and assess the effectiveness of this plan.
We stand by our Black staff and students and the Black Lives Matter movement and will be sharing our full response with you in the very near future.
