Celebrating One Year of Crossroads Live Scholarships at Mountview

In 2023, Mountview formed a major new partnership with Crossroads Live, one of the world’s leading producers of musical theatre, pantomime, and immersive experiences. Together, we created Crossroads Live Scholarships because we are passionate that our stages and screens are representative of the society we live in. These awards to students in financial need remove barriers to drama training, ensuring talent and potential are the main criteria for entry.

To celebrate our first year of working together, we invited Crossroads Live’s Group Director of Content, James Lane and Group Marketing Director, Jan Baister to the 1st year Musical Theatre students’ Summer Term project performance in July. This is where the students apply many of the skills they have developed over a year of intensive study to demanding musical numbers, normally performed solely for teaching staff and other first year students.

The students transported us through a vibrant medley of musical numbers drawn from throughout the decades, and demonstrated dance styles such as ballroom and salsa. This was followed by a relaxed meet and greet with Jan and James, the Crossroads Live Scholars from our Acting, Actor Musicianship and Musical Theatre pathways, and the BA Performance Course Leaders.

“Supporting the next generation of talent is at the centre of our partnership with Mountview and it was a great privilege to be in attendance for the 1st year’s summer showcase. With two incredibly important years still ahead in their training, the students should be immensely proud of the work they have achieved thus far to attain the skills they now have under their belts. Witnessing first-hand the brilliant talent on offer, I have no doubt that the future of our industry is a bright one and, at Mountview, in the safest possible hands too.”

We invite our students to tell us about the difference scholarship support makes regularly, from annual scholars’ letters to in-person events like this meet and greet. Sharing these stories with the world is a highlight of Mountview’s mission to remove barriers to drama training.

“I am so overjoyed to be following my dreams and I feel so lucky waking up in the morning knowing that I will be spending the day doing something that is genuinely so special to me, and that I wholeheartedly enjoy.”
– Anna, Crossroads Live Scholar

“I am absolutely adoring my time here, this year has been incredible. We have such a wide range of classes, covering each discipline of Singing, Acting, and Dancing in so much detail. Our faculty is fantastic, and I have learned so much more in the past year than I ever thought I could.”
– Daisy, Crossroads Live Scholar

We are absolutely thrilled to have Crossroads Live’s very generous support and want to thank them and all our other scholarship supporters for helping to remove barriers to training. There has never been a time of greater need for support with the cost-of-living crisis and inflation putting greater pressure across the board. The financial support means all that much more!
